Itinerary
July 25 1 mi N Burbank, 350 ft., Walla Walla Co., Wash.
swallow, bank swallow. On the
morning of the 25th the whole party
went bat collecting in the loft
of Hood's dairy barn nearby.
6 small Myotis sp. were secured.
I also collected a small Sceloprus
in the sagebrush near camp.
July 26 2 mi E and 5 mi S Dixie, 4300 ft., Walla Walla Co., Wash.
yesterday we moved camp to the above zone
location. This area is high transition,
with Larix occidentalis, Picea engelmannii,
Abies concolor, and Abies amabilis. Columbian
ground squirrels, Citellus columbianus are
numerous along with Eutamias amoenus.
This morning I hunted deer for about 3 hrs.
None were seen and tracks were not
plentiful. Bats are abundant; one Myotis sp.
was shot. Dr. E.R. Hall and J. Marshall joined us this
morning.
July 27 Stay a while Spring, 5150 ft., Columbia Co., Wash.
yesterday afternoon we moved camp to
Stay a While Spr., by way of Dayton. This
area is on one of the highest ridges of
the Blue Mts. and is in the Canadian zone
with Larix occidentalis, Abies concolor,
Picea engelmannii, Abies amabilis, and Pinus
contorta. 20 rat traps baited with prunes
were set at the bases of large trees.
