The Columbia and that evening I drove N of Paterson with Johnston to set mouse traps. We set our traps in two localities among sagebrush in sandy soil. The first locality was -

On the afternoon of the 18th Chantin and I rowed over to Blalock Island to set traps. There was a brush fire on the E end of the island so we went on down stream and set our traps at -
