Code 1956 Evolia melanotos 11 June Chriot, Alaska A total of about 10 new cewing the day. Two of them, in the Chriot Lake area, gave the "breast" distraction display, as though nesting might have been underway. I recognized no heard any courtship. 12 June Very common on the upper river levels adjacent to the foot hills. Probably 15-20 in adults - no pairs. Several individuals gave a weak distraction display as they wove west by, and 2-3 PDP were displaying their wings in flight - but no "booo" heard. Took movies of one especially tame bird. 13 June Several seen in wet places in the river bottom 14 June Several seen around Chriot, and one heard booing in the late evening. 18 June Several noted in wet areas around Chriot Lake. Act like they know nests, but haven't found any. 21 June Seen in same localities, about Chriot Lake each day. - 26 June Seen along the weasel wood in river bottom on the way to Red Hill. 13 July 4-5 seen in the area of T5. 17 July Danny young collected at east side of Chriot Lake, Several young all feathered except head have been seen in last few days.
