Code 1959 Evolia Leawdell 20 May Pitmegea - one thought to have been seen in a group of semi- pals along the westerly camp. 22 May Pitmegea - one, certain identification was seen by edge of view at camp. 31 May Peters Lake - several seen back of camp - displaying and chasing. About a dozen seen on the west side opposite camp. Many of these birds also displaying, calling, and chasing. Some paired. One pair collected. Only shovelbird (Ceratopipra type) seen for certain today. June Peters - Schroeder Lakes - seen in the same areas as yesterday - also on the low ground between the two lakes. June Peters - Schroeder Lakes - seen in all quadrants on my walk over to Whistler Cr and back along the west side of Peters - except in the pass through the west wall of the Peters valley. Average density seems to be about 5 to 6 pairs per linear mile of valley or about that many pairs per square mile. Most of the activity in the stream bed seems to be
