Code 1959 Acanthis hovemannii 8 June - cont- #1 - 5 eggs (one slightly incubated), on ground at base of willow 10" high, steep rocky slope into Creek - moss - beach - lichens - Purrys vegetation, lined with ptarmigan feathers and cotton clumps tufts #2 - 3 young (just labeled) and 2 eggs, 6 ft up in willow with crown of 6 ft - on side of creek bank, lined with ptarmigan feathers and cotton grass tufts. Female gave a distraction display. #3 - 5 eggs (one no visible sign of development), 14" up in willow with crown of 4 ft, on gravel bar of creek bed on the fan - lined with ptarmigan feathers and cotton tufts. #4 - 1 egg, 18" up in willow 2 ft high, in bend of creek or fan - lined with cotton tufts and ptarmigan feathers. Nests along Whistler Creek #1 - 3 eggs, on ground at base of willow 10" high, flood plain of creek, lined with Canadian straw and cotton tufts. #2 - 2 eggs, 10" up in willow with crown 2 ft - flood plain, low open stand of willows, lined with sheep hair
