5-26 June Coal Mine - Meade River - seen and heard wathers frequently in the choosy shrub willow areas.
7 June A nest was found along the river about 5 mi above camp. In the willows gone on the left limit. Here the willows average about 3-4 feet high. The nest contained 2 recently hatched young and 3 eggs. The 7 did not leave the nest until my hand was about a foot away. The nest was in a willow growing on the steep bank of a creek draining into the river. It was 3 ft off the ground and was lined with ptarmigan feathers. The outer shell was made of the flower stalks of dried Eriophorum with the white chloa, attached and worked into the nest.
30 June Several seen in willow stands across river from the millage.
9-10 July Unniat, Alaska - common, unusual, in all bushy areas.
12 July Unniat - seems to be wathers more common this year than in '54 or '57 - abundance comparable to 1952 - also a year of bumper crow crop on alder bushes.
-9 August Chephillah River - one of 3 commonest birds - seen in choosy shrub areas throughout
