Limosa lapponica
23 May Pitmegea - single bird seen
flying along the view
new camp.
4 May Pitmegea - pair evidently in
courtship flight seen in the air
just upwith from the geyfalen
cliff. Sexual dimorphism very
clear in this pair - the bright
reddish brown bird (? ?) was
much smaller than the greyish
(? ?) individual.
3 August Colville river below Ocean Pt - a
pair of distracting godwits was seen
in an area of low brush and upland,
drained tundra on a level of the river.
Four flying young were flushed in
the arks. They were associating with a
brood of juvenile ptarmigan. The
adult godwits were still quite "distinctive and definitive of the air. Considerable size, color difference noted
at Pitmegea held for this pair also.
Remains also found at two
peregrine areas above Ocean
Point.
