Plectrophenax nivalis 9 August - cont- a dozen was encountered on a graviti tylud above the first lateral of Contact Creek at about 4800 feet. Two of there were collected. Apparently now kryptos stay mostly above 4,000 feet in their country. According to Dale they are the fonduerest birds in the high country between Jogo and Bulahula Rivers where- he has seen them. 27 August Jogo Lake - a flock of about 20 was seen foraging on a gravel bar in the flood plain at the river's edge. All were in winter plumage. Later one was seen on the moraine east of the lake. It was collected. September Meade River - Coalmine - several seen around ARL wanigan and in the village - all in brown winter plumage. September Meade River - two seen flitting about on high dirt bank of river between ARL wanigan and the coalmine. September Meade River - several seen around the village today.
