12 June Aluet, Alaska
Two new together in the same area
as the Savannah sp. Does not seem to be
as common as in '52.
13 June
Quite common along Bearpaw Creek in
the hills. Several also seen in brushy areas
of the lower bottom. Males are in full song.
14 June
Common in the brushy area west of camp. Males
are in full song. As many as 6 heard at one station.
18 June
A nest with 5 eggs was found in the alder brush
near T8. It was situated in a depression at the border
of a ridge tressock overgrown with sedum and willow. It
was lined with ptarmigan feathers.
12-15 July
Recently fledged young common in brushy
areas.
Note: Undoubtedly the commonest passerine
(excluding wagtail) in the Aluet area in
1956. More common than longspur.
