Oenanthe oenanthe
3 August Okpilak Lake - seen commonly in gravelly areas of sparse willows in the flood plain. Also a few seen in woody areas on the alluvial fans, but in the river valley seen commonest weight along the river. About 20 seen between Camp and the fan where the shovels nest was located - distance of 7 1/2 miles.
-9 August Okpilak River - seen on each day - mostly in the flood plain but also common in the high country above Opatot Creek - seen all the way up to 500 feet - occurring mostly around book latite, rock stripes and outcrops of granite. Uses isolated rocks extremely for perching. Appears to be almost as common as the jifit, with which it is nearly always associated - that is, where one is seen, the other is usually seen too.
-22 August Jugo Lake - decidedly rarer as compared to last year, when they were seen on every walk - sometimes a dozen or more at a time. Only one individual has been seen so far this year, on 21st.
-26 August Jugo Lake - none seen.
