20 June Aniak, Alaska
Nest with 6 eggs on south
facing slope just east of Red Hill.
Nest situated on meadow - tussock
breath level in sparse alder stand
1 1/2 - 2 ft high - dry to damp location.
Dwarf willow, birch, Ledum, Cassiope
Cranberry present. Situated between
two closely growing tussocks on the
side of a mound 18" high, 2-3 ft in
diameter - no feathers or lining
lining the nest constructed of five
dry reeds, grass stems - cup 4" deep
and 3" in diameter. Female very
shy, flying far away when flushed.
