Asio flammula
August Jugg Lake
While was walking with my
peregrine on my fist along the
shoreline to the west of the lake in
the late evening around 2100, two
short-eared owls suddenly appeared
hovering about 10 feet above head.
Their presence was immediately surging!
by the falcon which shivered and ruffled
out her blood enafe feathers. The
owls were apparently attracted by
the falcon. They kept flying close to
me and diving past. Dim twilight
conditions. Then they would fly ca 30-
30 yds away and peck on boulders.
When my falcon moved, or when I
started out walking again, the owls
would get up and fly away from me
again. They kept this up for about
15 minutes while I walked to the
north end of the lake.
