I. Cole 1959 Sterna paradisaea 24 May Pitmegea - three were seen over the river and diving into it most of the afternoon. 5 May Pitmegea - six seen flying along the river just above camp. 27 May Pitmegea - individuals seen along the river on both claws. 28 May Pitmegea - Several seen at the mouth of the river in the early evening. 5 August Colville delta - along the rough back of camp a number of adult terns were seen fishing. On one day 2 flying juveniles were encountered. I watched the adult feed them several times. It appeared that more than 2 adults might be in attendance on these young. Although the young could fly well, they remained reluctant to do so - at any rate they allowed a close approach within 10 yds.
