T. Code 1958 Larus hyperboreus 18 June - east of Barrow On the flight with Maher and 5 friends I saw a total of only 18 and 8 of these were offshore. Two birds in the delta of Smith Bay appeared to be resting on the mud flats. 19 June Barrow - Brock and I saw 3 over the tundra while setting out traps. These were flying high. 20 June Barrow - none seen around the dump and Maher has seen very few around there - in an area where they have always congregated in past years. 21 June - One or two seen flying over central Marsh in the afternoon 24 June - four seen flying around the dump this morning. First time observed here this year. 5-26 June Coal Mine - Meade River - four or five seen flying along the river in the imme- diate vicinity of the river village. Six flew over T728 in the late evening of 26th. 27 June - Several seen upriver from camp. 30 June - Several seen along the river or well below the village. 3-6 July Barrow - few seen each day.
