Lilleland 1933 Itinerary ont July 27. Our overnight camp was 2 1/2 mi Ex N of Twin Spring. Left camp at 6:30 am. Drove to Twin Spring, crossed a small creek. Saw at least six Jack Rabbits grazing around a corral in meadow grass. W. Russell shot an Ammospermophilus near barn of place belonging to Johnnie Wilson. In the middle of what might be termed the yard or foreground of Wilson's place was a pool formed apparently by a spring. The pool was well populated by small trout. Elevation here was 6250 ft by aneroid (altimeter). Drove on to Nyala where we unloaded gasoline drums and thence to camp. Before reaching Nyala we drove to site of our recent camp at Big Creek to recoup some rope, a pick and minor items that had been overlooked. While looking around for these W. Russell spotted a large Rattlesnake. He was crawling over some old garbage. W. Russell went back to car to get his gun. I struck once with a stick and stunned him and held him until the battery arrived. He was over 39 inches long - five rattles and a button. Recall that while we were at
