L'DICKER 1984 Jogging the lines along the edge of the River - that she has been struggling. Very challenging, road up the valley to the Station. July 28 Left field station ~ 09:00. Several miles down. Returned to Lower Hutt. Picked up our van & continued N, Laurel to Levin & on to Rotorua via Bulls & Taupo. After dark found home of Louise & Ina Boeijen a few km N of Rotorua a/k/a. Half of our party stayed nearby in home of Mrs. M. Saxton. Boeijens address is P.O. Box 7033, Rotorua. July 29 Left Boeijens ~ 11:00. Drove briefly and Rotorua & then visited Rainbow Fairy Springs which is a few km NW of town. It is a farm reserve & small wildlife & trout stream; very well done. Lunch stop at Ngaruawhia. On to Auckland when checked with Aarangi Market. Dinner at Union Fish Co. on Quay St. July 30 Shopping in Auckland until ~14:45. Rain during night & middle early afternoon - sounding hard. Lv. Auckland for Sydney at 16:30, arriving 19:40 (NZ time). Left Sydney for San Francisco at 22:05 (NZ time) or 20:05 (Sydney time). After 9 hrs. stopped in Honolulu for ~ 1 hr, & then 5 hrs. over to S.F. Arrived 18:20 PDT. With daylight saving SF is 7 hrs. later than Sydney. Ed Heskett met us with Jim Patton's VW van.
