LIDCEREN 1984 About 10 km W of Coler we ran out of gas. We transferred petrol from the other car and after some difficulty got going again. Lunch in Coler continued on to Dubbo where we sat up in the Police Boy's Club. It rained all day. The previous rain (July 16th year - on July 19 in our limit) made this followed all the muddy roads was only .17 inches. The last rain before that was in April. According to Dave R. "mallee" refers to a life form of tree which has no single trunk but rather multiple main stems from a single root base. It occurs mostly in Southern NSW but a small amount reaches the Coler region. July 23 - Went E out of Dubbo to Ballimore, then to Goolma and to Gulgong (the town pictured on the $10 note). From there to Mudgee and Lithgow. Only a little rain today. Coffee break and seeing photos in Mudgee. Lunch in Karra, ong Airport. Then on to Richmond, Windsor and Sydney, arriving ~ 1600. Checked in to Eamon Motel in Randwick. Had dinner at Choi's with Ganslosser's from W. Germany. Did some laundry and re-packing. Mammals seen on the Fowler Gap trip: Macropus giganteus - lots in Warrawong, a few seen from Bourke to Tibooburne. Megaleia rufa! - few seen between Bourke - Tibooburne & more between Tibooburne - Fowler Gap; class 2.(18, 19) seen on way to also camp on Fowler Gap.
