LIBICKER 1984 for the Australian Brush-tailed bettong, bristled tail-tailed wallaby, & smaller form in that order. July 19 - Leave Bourke & head W for Tibooburra. Lunch in Wanaaring. No rain but roads quite muddy. Our bus had a delay of ~1 1/2 hrs. and because of bad clogged radiator, Camp opened at Camp Mt. Wood in the SE corner of Sturt Natl. Park. July 20 - Broke camp & drove to jack compass N of Tibooburra, lunch then at 11:30, left at 13:00. Skink-belt lizard seen here. Reached S final Broken Hill. Set up Camp in daylight at Fowlers Gap Reserve Site (owned & operated by the Univ. of N.S.W.). When checking camp in Ann Pli: I Moore (Wellington, NZ) found a fringe-tailed dragon (Amphibolurus). Stopped briefly in Pachsville before setting to Fowlers Gap. July 21 - After breakfast we went out to ridge to N to see Tim Clancy's radiotracking of euros operation. At 16:30 we left for also campsite near N. edge of bushy. Hiked several miles in it, lost track, & killed back. Started raining ~14:45 so we walked back to works. Returned to Stn. just before 16:00 a little camp in rain; left ~16:45 & headed for Broken Hill. We had ~60km of unformed & very slippery road to go. Hopefully it takes only 3/2 " of rain to make this road impassable. Camped in Broken Hill - dinner in rain ~ 20:00 - 21:00. Rain, often hard, all night. July 22 - Left Broken Hill ~ 08:00. Brief stop at Wilcannia.
