Dwn S. to Great Island trail to "The Gut" via Wellfleet; Nauset Beach to Coast Guard Beach & back to lodging 6, lodging 28 to 39 to 28 to Dennis Pond to Hyannis; lodging 132 to 6, to .6 East to m. 25 to I 195 to Mattapoisett (lunch) on Buzzards Bay; to Fairhaven to I 195 to Fall River, lodging 24 to Tiverton to Portsmouth to Bristol to Providence. I 95 to I 495 to I 93 to Salem, New Hampshire. Stayed at Sussex Chalet. Started to rain along S. coast of Cape Cod & after lunch it was continuous hard rain until it lifted up late in evening. Saw Tamiaceous duds on: corn at Wellfleet. Bird watch: Manx Shearwater? - 1 Nauset Beach: winds so strong & cold blowing so could not get steady look but seemed to be a moderate sized shearwater flying S, dark brownish at close & white later.
