LDickson 1991. Oct. 6 cont. Follow Sand mountain to the proximal station on which giant houses are rapidly being built. Vegetation covers the spit down the high tide line. A second inlet cuts across the spit just N of the first. We saw 1 seal in this channel or another later in the season, possibly the same individual. Drive west to Tijuana Peninsula including Ballona and continued N to Larkspur. Walked to end of Greenbrae Boulevard. Then stopped at Larkspur Landing for lunch (~14:30). Continued N to San Rafael and along the N side of San Rafael Bay (stopping to view the Marin Islands), to Pt. San Pedro (McNear Beach). Went on to Channel Camp where we lunched and then continued NW along the peninsula + back to Hwy 101. Then we saw many giant saltmarshes along the N shore of this peninsula. Potentially good landbird site for north or W end of W. Marin Island + also a Red Rock (nr. China Camp). We also viewed The Sisters Islands off Pt. San Pedro. Birds noted: Pied M. Grebe -2 West.
