LIDICKEN 1991 Aug 18 cont. Mammals seen: Hump-backed Whale - 2 watched feeding for ~20 min. cnr mi. NW of Fovea. Did flukes up dive once. Seal herd cnt. to depart fm: one whl smaller than other N. (Steller) sea lions - ~20 seen (1 y w/gry & Zephyrs) Caly sealions - ~30 seen + on 2 occais 1 w/2 individuals seen to "purse" I was surprised that they can clear out 1 th water. This was away from the details. Elephant seals - 2 grps of ff's & jvns. (~10) on island beach. Harbor seals - ~10 Birds seen: Black-footed Albatross - 1 (W. & Far. I.s.) Pink-footed Shearwater - 2 (W.& F.I.), 1 (to NW of FI) Sooty Shearwater - 35+ Brown Pelican - 25+ D. cv. Cormorant - 40+ (S.F. Bay), 3 (F.I.) Brandt's Cormorant - 100's vic F.I. Pelagic Cormorant - 100's vic F.I. Whimbrel - 1 (FI) Wandering Tattler - 2 (F.I.) flock of Daritthor-sized sandpipers flying ov SF Bay - 15+ Red Phalarope - 80+ Herring Gull - 5+ (S.F. Bay + 1 little just Golden Gull) Ring-bd. Gull - 1 (Emergville) Lessing Gull - 30+ (S.F. Bay + 1 little just GS.)
