Trip was sponsored by Golden Gate Aviation Soc., leader was Peter White. Overcast except for ~3:00-4:30pm when sun came out as we were approaching Golden Gate Bridge. Fairly rough seas on way out & the relatively calm. Went directly to Farallon Islands and approached them closely on SE island. Then went W toward edge of continental shelf, churning as we went for several miles (taking a cloud of gulls with us is supposed to attract all species of shearwaters.) Then we returned to Farallons, and went NW for several miles looking for reported Hunt- stock whales. Returned to vicinity of Farallon & then headed directly back. Cost: $29 each. Saw 3 Butterflies on separate occasions far out on the ocean.
