Lanai 1991 Lanai's bird list cont. Lesser Golden Plover - 1 (N. and Palawai Basin); 1 (NE coast) Wandering Tattler - 1 (from NE SW cliffs) Sandpiper - 1 (NE coast) Ruddy Turnstone - 8 (NE coast) Rock Dove - 1 (NW coast, nr. Kaena Pt.); 1 (Manele Bay) Spotted (Chinese) Dove - seen frequently on Palawai Basin But not as common as usual H:10.f Zebra (Barrud) Dove - abundant from Lanai City to coasts. Especially common in "marquis" forest along N & E coasts. A few seen up to ~600m. Shaw-billed (Hawaiian) Owl - 3 seen at dusk S. of Lanai City (Aug 6). Eurasian Skylark - 4+ on NW coast & 4+ NE coast & possibly 2 seen on Palawai Basin in thickets. N. Mockingbird - 2 (thickets); 1 (N. slope) Common Myna - common, most abundant on Palawai Basin but seen from sea coast to ~650m. Japanese White-eye - a few seen from sea level (Manele Bay) to top of Lanaiake. N. Cardinal - common in Lanai City & also seen at somewhat higher elevations & to coasts (like N & S), Near Manele Bay, a flock of mixed N. Cardinals & Red-crested Cardinals was seen. Red-crested Cardinal - common around Manele Bay & it seen on N. coast as well. House Finch - seen regularly on Palawai Basin.
