LIDICKER 1991 May 28-29 cont. Hum. Pinal - 80+ Hum. Splanor - 25+ Av. Goldfinch - 1+ Tricolored Redwing - 1♂ (South Rd.) n = 78 weather on 29th: mostly overcast & very pleasant: Light rain in early afternoon & again at Clear Lake. May 30 - Weather: clear with strong N + W. winds blowing all day; cold in Am & cool rest of day. Birds: Woodpecker is Nice. Took Lucerne highway along N. side of Lake, left on 29 S to CA.175 to Highland. Hwy 101 to Healthbury & then along Russian River to coast & S. to Bodega Bay. Looked around Marina Stn. briefly & then to Bodega Head. Continued S. on CA.1 to Anderson Canyon Ranch on Bolinas Lagoon (it was closed). Returned to Pt. Reyes Bird Observatory & then looked over at Bolinas. Returned down nice Olvera to Fairfax to San Rafael. Arr. home ~ 18:45. Saw Sciurus griseus just W of pass on Highland Rd (CA 175), & gray fox came trotting out of the distance to Anderson Canyon Ranch (~ 16:30). Birds counted: Red-tailed Hawk - 3 (1 Horneston Cyn, 1 Bodega Bay, & Hwy #10km) Common Loon - 10+, (Bodega Bay) - 1 in breeding plum. + 1 partilly Western Grebe - 2+ (Bol. Bay), 2 (N end, Clear Lake) Charlie's Gosh - 50+ (Clear Lake), 2+ (Bodega Bay) midnight gulls - 10+; 1 group of 3 seen from our boat 40 bd. away on Bodega Bay composed of 2 Westerns w/ greenish or smaller bills, + 1 Charlie's with yellowish & larger bill. Brown Pelican - 2 (Bol. B.) Brandt's Cormorant - 1+ Double-cormorant - 6+ (Clear Lake)
