LIDICKER 1990 Aug 17 cont. he took me out to his Bison herd where we spent a couple of hours among his "friends". With the jeep, the bison ignored us, so we could drive right up to individual individuals no more than 5 or 6 meters away. Distance down back south to Valentine Wildlife Refuge and went in to the "headquarters" near Hackberry Lake. It was already over 90° F + disappointing that there were no fowl birds around, especially after seeing so much yesterday along the highway. Took look at hackberry, drove along south of N. shore to E. and then down the lake to the north a "HQ", and then stopped at Bison Lake hunting reserve on the way out. Back in Valentine had lunch at the Chet 'n' Chew and then headed W on US 20. Birds seen in the Valentine area (Aug 16-17): Pintail M. Grebe - 40+ White Pelican - 6 Gt. B.
