LIDICKEN 1990 Aug 15 cont. End: go Bunting (4), Ch. sparrow, C. Swift, + Creambell Flycatcher (1). Headed W on US 36 ~ 14:00. Stopped briefly at Chillicothe next stop: 2 fox sparrows, Bluejays, Red hd. Woodpecker (2), Robin (2), Eastern Bunting, Barn Swallow, + House Sparrow. Snow @ Chillicothe. I-29 & St. Joseph N into Iowa. Near Craig, Mo. saw 1 Prairie Chicken. Storm clouds to W. but finally pleasant weather. Took highway 2 across Missouri: R. into Nebraska & N. on US 75. Got into edge of heavy rain storm. W. on US 34 to Lincoln. Stayed at 6th Plain; motel (great) on 27th & "O". At dusk walked around Wood Park, listening to Nighthawks, & then had dinner. Aug 16 - Didn't get out on road until ~ 10:00, Took I-80 W to Grand Island, for York Co. saw our first Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers (the trip) (8). At 27 mi. E. Grand Island, saw 3 Clay Sparrows. Heading 281 N to 2 & W. to Ravenna St. Pier Area. Stopped here 12:30 - 13:00. Saw: Bluejay - 3 + morning Dove - 4, House Sparrow - 2+, E. Kingbird - 10+ W. Kingbird - 2+ Downy Woodpecker - 1 Yel. Sl. Flycatcher - 2 Red hd. Woodpecker - 10+ Wh. Sw. Nuthatch - 2 Rough-w. Swallow - 50+ Bank Swallow - 2+ Barn Swallow - 10+ Brown Thrasher - 2 Robin - 10+ Wilson's Warbler - 1 (heard) Mallard - 1 ♀ C. Swift - + Belted Vireo - 1
