LIDICKEN 1990 He worked with. He elected to spend several months at Oxford Univ. (right after FAP had left) and learned from Eshon & Chitty. Back in the Tadeus he worked on spiders and did research for his PhD degree. Then he did his doc. at U. Mich. with Slobodkin, 1968 to 1971 was a difficult time for science in Poland as there was a wave of anti-Semitism and then was an effort to replace Institute directors like Petersen (his wife was Jewish), and the director of Adam's land. Adam's new director went all the way & objected to collaborations like "Best regards" or doing too much work with Gredginsky who got Adam into the University. Encouraged by Urbanek (head of PAN? at the time), Adam soon developed a reputation as methodical ecologist, organized workshops, etc. He feels that Petersen's last task (Organism, Pop., Community) had little impact because his evolutionary ideas were wrong & therefore those who did know him personally viewed him as Party member, Lysenkoist, & lowly ecologist. He was not concerned with conservation or environmental protection & never politically repudiated Lysenko even though he gave up his beliefs in Nos doctrine.
