Lido 1950 May 28 cont. Of mountains. Took - few photos including one looking into the Val di Muggio to the East, & 2 looking S. toward Bellavista, but it was too hazy for good pictures. Mostly clear & cool. Saw 1 Lacerta sp. (not Vivipara) at Bellavista. Also Talpa sign. Chamois - Saw 1 st new Jack, & in bleak forest near Bellavista saw 1 ad. + 2 yearlings & 1 old kind ad. 4 scratched out + 2 more not seen well enough to see age = 7 total. Saw long knits in a number of places. Hoops or blinds & widely spread at them. Returned to Bellinzona & visited highest of 3 castles - town, & drove around & little on top returning to home. Took Merics out for pizza. Birds seen: Mallard - 2 Peregrine Falcon - 1 Swifts - 120+ * Tree P: pit - 5+ (Saw flight very many times; noted pink leg & unstuffed wings.) Jackdaw - 4 (Castello Uri) Raven - 1 Robin - 5+ Great T: it - 1+ Tree creeper ? (head only) Chiffchaff - 15+ * Honey Buzzard - 2 Cuckoo - 3+ Heron Martin - 20+ Hooted Crow - 10+ Winchat - 10/2 Blackbird - 10+ (few elevations only) Woodlark, Jays? - 5+ Passer sp. - 20+ Green Finch - 1 (little castle)
