LIDICKER 1990 May 26 cont. (he egotic farm) in the plains s. of farm. At 17:30 we left to help Savoy with digging + to look at birds. We returned at 19:30. Birds seen: Mellard - 5 ad. & 1 juv. & 8 ducklings. BIK, X:ds-1 * Red-footed Falcon - 1st Wood Pigeon - 8st Collared Thrush Dunn - 2 Cuckoo - 1st Swallow - 70s Hen Martin - 4 ad. * Kollar (Coracias garrulus) - 1 (we ran into a group of ~25 bird watch & they pointed us in the direction of where they had seen this kind, & luckily we found it.) Skating - 20st Woodlark (now - 20st (looks even browner than them in Norway) * Great Reed Warbler -1 Paint Flycatcher-1 B31.ckland - 50st B3hen - 2:0 - 1st Hen Sparrow - 50st Italian Sparrow - 1 Chiffchack - 5st Nightingale - 3 Green Finch - 24 n=21 May 27 with Marco & F. Savoy took high to drive towards (2000 m) = Alps, 11:00-17:00. Went N. on rd. to Zurich to village of Piotta. Turned off right before & climbed down into (E. s. end of valley) to reservoir called Lago Ritom. Parked there + walked to upper end of lake which is almost dry because I had a rainfall now last several years. Continued to Lago Calagno - a natural cirque /th to Piano Calagno (2000m) & to Alpe di Piore (2km from far cows from valley) - now not inhabited until July. Then returned to car + Bellinzona. Weather: mostly clear + cool to warm. Usually it is not possible
