Tit: 40 t (1 indv. was gray w/vand head stark neaver) Horn Sparrow - 20t Green Finch - 10 t Juchdow - 35 t Fieldfare - 10 t Blue Tit - 8 t Chaffinch - 15 t n = 20 The only other sp. in area i Finland in the day was Mynfire. Went to dinner at Alexander Nevskii Restaurant across from market Square. April 11 Visited Market Sqare. Henderson picked me up at 10:30 drove west to Finnish Forest Res. Inst. in Vantaa. Visited (Dep of Forest Production) the Section of Forest Ecology - which Haikki is one of 5 dedicated level staff. We also talked to Sect Chief Annila, Erkki (Pent.). He has worked with Don Dahissten at UCB. Had dinner ~17:30 + left ~14:15 for the Univ. of Helsinki; Zoological Dept. I gave seminar at 15:15. Went for beer afterwards & then to Haikki's home for dinner in Espoo. To be q Helsinki. Henderson's 2 kids are Eline (10 yrs old) Pentti & Pentti (5). Took bus home 11-19:30 Wife: Hilka. April 12 Visited a Dept of Ecology all day except for 2 hrs at National Museum. Principle talks were with Dr. Haikki's (grad. student starting project on indirect effects of wood production on C. rutilus at Innarjijarvi in NE-most Finland where they have thousands of islands), E. Pankakosti (eco-morphology & muskkrats & shrews & fur trap coll.
