LIDICKER 1998 Apr. 1 cont. Hazel Crow - 12+ Europ. Robin - 5+ Blue tit - 1 Fieldfare - 20+ Coal Tit - 6+ (Sw. Blackbird - 1) G+T+I - 12+ Chaffinch - 40+ Green Finch - 30+ Yellowhammer - 5 n = 18 April 8 ~11:35 Left Kringsjia Staudalby for Sognsvannet then Liked up to Frognerseteran. Hot snack at Skistua, & then walked to top of jvtra (Tryvann Stn.) - 529 m. Got train from Frognerseteran at 16:18 & got home 17:15. Mostly sunny early but becoming cloudy by mid-afternoon. Temperatures out of the same later freezing and slight winds on top. Lots of snow on trails as we approached top of the mountain from N. side. Lakes on top were all frozen, & Lillevann was also snow-covered. Sogns- vannet had hardly any frozen along the S. edge. Took casual photos of Sognsvannet, a ram on way to top of jvtra, including one of large ant nest with of Picea heather. Ants are large and black with reddish thorax, & nests in the same, ants were active on top of the nests (ant-maur) (manature). These nests started about 2 way up jvtra, & than become scarcer near the top. Saw some dropping, browse trails, & browse sign n 1/2 way to top. Also saw smaller droppings (Corvus?). Also saw more tracks in snow, Rabbit tracks a mark stripped in on place and. Smelled muskratid near top. Took casual photos from top of mountain.
