L Dickson 1985 Alaska trip. - mammals cont. Marmot cont. - km 316 (18 Jun) - 2 km. 321 ( . ) - 1 ? & calf total=10 Red squirrel - very seen and farmlh Arctic ground squirrel - First one seen at km. 208 & seen frequently through ; common on N. slope. Bunnys noted at Atiyan Bc. At. km. 344, one was seen taking a dead bird in the road. Muskox - ) seen & photographed among willows along Atiyun River (km. 255) Grizzly bear - ? & cub seen near Distant Rv. (km. ~223) & tracks seen on slope Mtn. (km. 301) Canids: 1 muntl'd, canid skull at Atiyun Pass (~km 245), & on N. slope found a pile along side of road of ~6 fox skullers & 1 lynx. Wolf - 2 at km. 298 feeding on caribou carcass (18 Jun AM); got very good looks. Red fox - km. 313 ) followed me along rid for 1+km and looked south full of 6-8 minivores until it periodically layed [illegible] on the ground & probed. At one point it seemed to catch an additional individual. Arctic fox - 1 (incl. photo) at km 375 & 2 in vicinity of Prude Bay. microlutions: Hess Ch study area: M. xanthogasterus old sign Atiyun Pass - bunnies or mange Trootik Lake - lots of sign Helly Valley (km 3345) - 2 microlution minivores seen clearly - open willow brush near river
