N. Loke trip cont.
At km. 352 went off to W + climbed 2:11 when there is a weather station. Spent 1 hr. + looking for Bix Mountains in willow thicket on N slopes of 2:11. Brian saw a hut no-one else did at km. 362
Then were extensive stretches of tundra dominated by Dupontia. Dead Horse is at km 413, Cont. on to Providence Bay. Spent 40 min wading at grand station to get into Petronoma co. Property. We had written permission ahead of time but they still killed us wading. Finally drove in + got to shores of Providence Bay (frozen) + on way to cornering leading to oil field sticking out into the Arctic Ocean. At 2:1 first company patrol stopped me + escorted me out of oil co. Property. We had permission checked in at a. Dept. Now we had dinner + then caught flight to Fairbanks ~ 9:30 p.m. Left Fairbanks 11:35 + flew to Anchorage. L saw photo of Denali at ~ 12:10 2-light.
June 19 - Av. Seattle ~ 05:15; left Seattle for Oakland 07:00, Av. Oakland ~ 09:10 + took taxi home.
Hawks seen: Kane sylvestriana around Fairbanks + saw shots to N on 26 June.
