LIDICKER 1989 border N, S1 on Boruge + last given date is about km 237. N. Stage cont. was raining. After dinner (9:30 - 11:30), lunch at a working S on ground + track. At my hotel June 17 - Continued N through Happy Valley (1:30 - 2:30) when there is evidence; ~ km 238 on Chandalar R. (Chandalar Maintenance Rd.) continued toward A ti gun Pass (4752ft.), and continued N to Toolik Lake. Started raining w/ heavy fog in lake afternoon + continuing into morning. Had dinner at Toolik L.; talked to Brian Barone, Jim Kenney, & Gail Michiner.. Very cold, windy, + sleety: "worst weather for middle June in our 5 yrs." Continued N to camp site; S1 on Mt. camp site at km 305.5, ~ 1500 ft. alt., on Sagavanirktok R.v.r. Gray was arranged in 2 places that ~ 1/2 mi. off hard rd. to E. Took long walk with sun finder in cold, wind + rain. Saw 5 Herilagan Ducks (28,32) on river. Started snowing before went to bed. A morning, got up at ~ 06:30 + was 1/2 in. I never saw snow everthing. Then it has clear enough to see Brooks Range to N S and S1k off th. to WSW. June 18 - Returned S to km 305 + off rd. to S1pk Mt. when we did good look at Doll sheep + searched in vain for Marmot brownie. Want further S (km 298) when we saw 2 wolves. We secured them off a ravine on Pony Sts. km 3 & km 3/2. carries. At 10:20 am looked N again, "cold but really clear day. Lunch: Happy Valley (km. 334.5), pleasant settlement from pipeline construction w/ air draft."
