L DICKER 1975. July 28 cont 1330. After unloading the vehicle, Jerry & I went home showered & then on to MacDonald's for a lunch. Then we went to the lake & started to harvest the live catch - getting 4 bass, 6 RBC, 1 trout & 10 pickerel. We finished at 18 & then went out to dinner at Stan West's & Susan Wilson's cabin on the Goldstream Rd. We had an excellent dinner & stayed until ~2230. Went back to lake to feed the remaining 14 live animals gathered from Susan's garden. July 29 Jerry & I started out at 0645 for Mt. McKinley National Park. With a stop for gas it took us about 2ΒΌ hrs. It was a beautiful clear day & the mountains were magnificent. We got a camping permit for Wonder Lake & so were able to drive into the Park instead of taking the shuttle buses. We drove as far as Polychrome Pass, & then since it was almost noon, we turned around & headed back. Mammals seen in the Park: Tami: crows hudsonicus - 1 POR new hatchlings Spermophilus tridecemlineatus - com. Dall Sheep - 25+ (20 adult, 8's & j's killed out) Grizzly Bear - 8 Caribou - 3 8's Moose - 1 We also sighted 8 Golden Eagles, at least 7 of which seemed to be separate individuals. Got back to Fairbanks 1615. Great trip!
