LIDICKEN 1975 July 24 cont. the lake + processed 3 Clarksons turtles + 1 M, squamosus. Then we all went to a salmon SE & N farm (Howling Dog; Malamut was full up) July 25 Jerry & I were at the small Salem airport at 07:15 when we met John Coody + Dale Hagstrom (good student at UA + does both UP fish & game). We took off in a 4-seat tail plane + tracked down 5 areas with radio transmitters. We located all 5 but actually saw only 2 of them. In addition, we saw ~6-8 additional bears. We ran into a rainstorm + had to give up trying to spot one of the areas. Flew to our Tacoma Valley S & E of Fairbanks. Returned to DeBark about 0915. Went home to change clothes + then went to Univ. Called Karl Schneider in Anchorage to try to arrange for me to visit the fish & game + talk to former personnel there. Made return flight arrangements + talked to Jerry about his thesis research. After lunch went to LAB + talked to grad Dean Peter Manning, + George Ward. Worked on getting my seminar ready. Geir seminar from 1530-1700. Went to West's for dinner with Dale & Carol Feist, George's oldest son Mark (1946) was there too. Jerry drove me LHS
