Hull Mountain Trip
July 5 - Left about 1030 with family for Lake
P:11/2 Hwy Road & Lake Co. Calif. Arrived there
about 1430. Joined in 4th of July barbecue at
Ranch. About 1800 we left to drive up
to Hull Mtn. We crossed Gravelly Valley & went E to
College Patch & then up Boardman Ridge to
Steve Smith's study and giant S. W Timberline
Camp on the S. slope of Hull Mtn. This is about
at 5700 ft. We found Steve & running his
live trap said for his studies of Entomias sooner.
A forward mile camp just E. of the road.
July 6
Rather cool nights but still flies & mosquitoes active
most of night. After breakfast we packed camp &
hunted chipmunks most of day at series of spots to
N. Eventually we got a few N. on the yet, on the
NW side of Bald Mtn. When we went back W. to
Thatcher Butte. Chipmunks were very scarce or/our
very quiet. We eventually got 3 E. armensis
near Sphinx Grove campground. I shot one & Steve
shot 2. Earlier we had lunch about 1 mi. S of
Monkey Rock & Naomi & the boys stayed there for
the afternoon while Steve & I hunted.
In addition to hunting chipmunks, we also
checked a number of wet areas for M:cuters.
There is a spring & small meadow just NW of
Hull Mtn. Peak but I forgot to check it for
