LIDICKER 1981 Oct. 17 cont. For Beaver is several ponds within ~1 km downstream from the Site. We had 1 trail step & a few land tracers grazing into the riverine low silt more. Oct. 18 Up at 0600 so we could leave for dawn at 0630 arriving ~ 07:30. Picked up traps & students leaving for the Site ~ 0930. Now all 4 Nesttowers was to find. In the Skimmer bin I had: Diplocheles jamonatus - 4 (2 released & 2 kept by BL: Brylski), Perognathus, jervinus - 3 (all kept by Brylski), Peromyscus maniculatus - 2 (released). On 1 set trap had 1 Diplocheles jamonatus (WZL # 3869) [When we left for the dawn, checked 2 sother sets less out earlier. One picking. The other that was previously popped was again on a rat again. This and one picked up by Duke Rogers in afternoon & caught sother given to our 1 students to skin - Chris]. After returning to Site, did skimming session (stirred my own trap-tipped life; lived, left ~ 13:25. Arrived back 1700. A few naturally birds seen: Gt. Blue Heron - 2 (Silver Valley) Cooper Hawk - 1 Red-tailed Hawk - 4+ Rough-legged Hawk? - 1 Marsh Hawk - 2 Sandhill (seen - 1 (seen by 1 student in my group). Silver Valley Kite/kite - 1 & 2 (Seguin)
