LIDICKER 1981 Segehon Creek 57.24 Sta - Mamalooops class field trip Oct. 16 - Left about 10:10. Arrived about 1430. Set 5 Townsend traps for Neotoma cinerea in "rockpile" (clong creek & 95 Sta.) - baited with 1 brown & peanut butter mix. Also catch 4 sugar ants = 2 locations. In evening had to repair holes by Sarah Martin on her round on invertons at Basin. Checked traps. Caught 2 Neotoma one I which escaped by squeezing through gap along side trap door. Oct.17 - Up at 0700. No additional Neotoma although all traps had bait taken. Caught 2 adults & sugar in same set (at same time). There was nothing in a second set. One child kind and was jumbled up or out. So 2 sets left out, 2 shipped to Microtome sp? carpet is a long 300 m. with 1/5 the side by Sarah Martin (hzc # 3867). At 1400 all but 2 of the group left for Silver Valley and digging in the desert N of Chilcoat (Blumes Co.). I went out a line of 19 kg. Shrew traps - bait dry oats with a little peanut butter & 1 cat trap. Two cars with about 1/2 the group left ~ 1500 and returned to Segehon. The rest stayed to camp in the desert (actually a small forested area on the slopes of the buttes). I also set 4 Townsend live traps for Neotoma latida amid rock outcrops & on the slope to the N of the valley. There was wild rye only. Some fresh growth rye and the group's campsite (cafes), as well a drive. Got back to site. 1900. After dinner, about 12 of us spent 1 1/2 hours walking
