LIDICER 1981 Sept. 29 cont. was born in Bieczystok escaped from the Warsaw ghetto = 1940. Spent 12 years in Soviet prison before being exonerated. Left for Copenhagen. Took off for Oslo (SAS) at 15:18, arriving 16:05 (on schedule). We met by Nils Chr. Stenseth upon speedy passage through customs. We drove to the University of Oslo when he had arranged for me to stay in a tiny guest room in the Biology Bldg. We talked until about 17:15 then drove to his apartment where I had dinner with him and his wife Bjorg. They have a beautiful 2-story flat. Then midnight he took me back to the Biol. Bldg. Sept. 30 Met Nils at 08:05 and we went to student union where I had breakfast and had a cup of coffee. Afterwards we talked and I worked on my seminar reading notes. Also waited for 1/2 hour as I did not sleep much last night. From 12:15 to 13:15 gave seminar on "Sub-structuring - populations of the California vole" (Zoological Institute). Then we went to the Univ. canteen's Main where after some delay I was paid 1850 kr. for my seminar. Had lunch and coffee in the Biol. Bldg. Afterwards once more discussion. This time much of it was with Erik Framstad (who spent 1 year at Colorado St. Univ.) and Per Magnar Jensen (student working with first field trips with Lemmens). Rested for 1 hour.
