Call received yesterday, took bus to Dzielnica arriving at 10:25, 25 min. late. Just became quite hot, was so crowded the rear doors wouldn't open and could not get off at Plac Komuny Paryskiej to transfer a bit to come back from the next stop. Wiera Walkowa met me at the dusty front entrance to make sure I got into the lab OK. At 11:30 she gave me a hand in her flat at the Inst., and again at about 16:00.
Otherwise I worked continuously processing 12 microtomes from Tarsze. I attempted chromosomal slides for 8. I also cleaned about 8 rolling up the skins tying in a plastic bag & floating in the liquid hydrogen. I didn't quite finish the last 4 chromosome preparations before I had to leave after 18:00. Left frozen suspensions in the centrifuge. There are also about 7 more microtomes left to do tomorrow.
Gave a ride with Dr. H.-Ilkowska & Dr. Kajak both hydrobiologists at the Inst. Kajak walked me to his flat when I was met by Jan Pinski: we walked to Jan's flat where his daughter Agnieszka & I had dinner. Afterwards Krystyna came by briefly to confer on plans for tomorrow, Jan & I continued our discussions regarding Planning session B for ICE III. At 22:30 took train back into town.
As from tech conference with me got off a little too soon & had to walk from the Warsaw Ochota railway station. I was not sure if this train ended at on Alja.
