LIDICKER 1981 Sept. 22 cont. agree w/comp. station. Then we drove back to Poznan. Lech & I had a piano at the hotel & discussed from regarding the Inst. & col. Cragen next summer. I did dinner in the hotel restaurant. Worked on seminar for tomorrow. Director of Turew station: Jaros[illegible] Karg Sept. 23 Lech picked me up at Hotel at 0930 & we walked to his Institute. From 10-11 I gave seminar on micros- structuring in Calip. Volu. Following discussion I explained why I was sampling the local Mus population with background on current thinking about taxonomy of Eurasian Mus. More discussions with Berger & Dr. Janusz Truszkowski. The latter looks at Microtus arvulis at Turew for his PhD research under Lech. Now he is trying to develop an electrophoresis lab for the Rana esculenta project. A little after lunch Lech & I (w/ driver) for town Poznan. We went to the "katedra" on an island in the river. This church was first built in ~989 along with a fontress. It was destroyed & rebuilt several times, it now is in Gothic style. Lech got a key from a priest (who was cleaning his sink with a small cross) & he went down under the church to see the tombs and some of recently discovered & excavated walls & artifacts from the original church. The first two kings of Poland were buried there, but no evidence remains because
