Hotel. It took about 30 min; then was some light rain
& instantaneously heavy fog. Got to bed ~ 01:00. Then
is a large scounding jamboree being held in Krakow
this weekend & there are many scouts in evidence marching
about. Apparently there are 3 national scouting organizations -
1 official & 2 unofficial. After breakfast camped out on
my long-distance note writing. At 1400 checked out of
hotel & was met by Bogustaw Bobala & his large Italian
Fiat. We went first to the University to get my sleeping
stuff & a huge tent. On the windward side of the lake I
was working & got an excellent view of a Spotted Hyena
(Mursicapla). Then we went to the train station.
Got on board at 1445 & the train left exactly on
time at 1525. This was the last day that a direct
train for Krakow to Poznan will be available. Train
ride was speeding as we did not arrive in Poznan until
23:05. Stopped at Torgbina (16:06), Mystkowice (16:39) - no
Katorwice - multiple stops (17:00+), Tarnawska Gory
(18:43), Lubliniec (18:40); Ostrows (21:00). Uh-
unexpectedly & was met by Irena Batoniak & her husband.
They took me the short distance to the Hotel Mercury. She
works as a chemist in Ryozkowski's Institute.
