Sept 15 cont.
+ a dinner stormoon on the 3rd floor. A total of 19
traps set in the hostel. The sun sent 5 outside (2 in garage,
1 in a food storage bunker, + 2 along side the building).
Total traps set = 34. Traps have melted, with falling down
arrangement except for 2 small collapsible Sherman's. Be it said
was pieces of which model is some kind of greeen or wheat
kermes. Finished setting by 17:30. Rain continuing all
day. About 1845 we made our dinner in the hostel dining
room supplementing what we brought with what little was
available from the hostel. They came thru in large china
glasses holding 2-3 cups. While we had lengthy
discussions about the Ecology Congress next summer
and many other things.
Sept 16
After breakfast picked up all traps. Caught total of 6
Pylodermus flavicollis: 1 in linen stormoon, 3 in shepard's long
1 in garage (dead = wt 4.3813), + 1 outside of hostel. We decided
that this catch indicated there were no Mus in Poland
Check of towns & on most shepard set traps at lower
elevation + outside of the park. During the 2 cycle fresh snow
fell to within 1 or 200 m. of the hostel. It was still overcast
long with only uniform thin rain. Drove out of Park to
junction with road to Zakopane. This junction area
is called Roztoki. There seems to be only on active
groom close this junction & this is not very far above.
At the junction is a home belonging to the Forestry
