LIDICKER 1975 Feb. 15 cont. Tracy on Interstate 580. Continued past 4 Menlo Park on Calif. 120. Then N. on Vale Allen Rd., E. on Calif. 4 to Fremington & the N. to Bellete. Beautiful clear, sunny day, very warm. After a quick lunch we started hunting squirrels while Neil & the boys fished in a nearby pond. At 12:06 I shot an adult F (Ron & I walking together). At 12:30 I killed another along the edge of a slough. Unfortunately, it rolled into the slough & sank like a rock. Ron waded in to try and retrieve it but couldn't find it (the slough is quite deep & had a fairly good current in it). Shortly we saw 1 other squirrel. Later found coming in saw 1 more; Ron took a shot at it but we didn't get it. Sheila got 1 ch. B. Neomi found a dead male kill (ch. F) for a total of 3 squirrels. Around noon, we went several miles SW of Bellete & sat & hid in tops so we saw when they could not get permission to shoot. Jeff caught a large black crossie from the pond. Went to drive from near Escalon owned by a friend of Ron's (Tony Brazil) when we watched the cars being killed. Then we went to Tony's (+ his brother Jack's) home on Carvelton Rd. (between Love Tree & Arena) where we spent the night. Feb. 16 Got up about 07:15 & headed for Bellete with Ron & Sheila. It was clear & cold. Hunted for several hours. (0800) Ron & I got another ch. F squirrel (we teamed up on this one too, but he got in the final shot). Didn't see any other squirrels all morning; except 1 pair of male running
