the two chairs - "them within" committee investigating
the Warsaw zoo which apparently is in terrible condition.
Had long discussion w/ Wtadystaw Aulak who is
botanist in Roman's group. He is doing coherent analysis
(i.e with results) of species of herbs growing in forest. Very
interesting results, but lacks evolutionary perspective. The
detailed data on growth, productivity, dispersion of the
species while collecting about ~98% of vegetation on forest
floor. Then Roma, Krzysztof & Zbigo for Rogow visit
is a large research station operated by Warsaw Agric Univ.
It is a few miles east of todaj. We took lift up to SW
going to Katowice, then turned W toward Lodz at Rawa
Maz. Rogow is ~10-15 km along this road. Roman
told us about plans for a new town to be developed NW
of Warszawa utilizing ecological principles & nature conservation
as guidelines. Roma is involved in the planning & has taught
ecology to some women government minister who is also an
architect. She is helping to get architects & biologists
together - the planning process. We had "Lunch" about
(Jagow)
1530 at a small village near Rogow in a small private
restaurant. The meal was very good. Rogow is a beautiful
estate with dormitory for 200 students, classrooms,
orchestrum & botanic garden. The orchestrum has all species

gardens. The place have a museum with mounted birds or
insects - old Polish species being represented. Then on
