Returned to Pinsk; kept for dinner +
discussions, watched news on TV. Jan called in
too late on article = Bolint & Petersenig.
Took bus back to hotel, arriving ~ 22:15.
Sept. 7
At 0900 K. Andrzujewska arrived to take me
to the Instytut Ekologii i Dziewkarów Lesny.
She wanted to show me how to get there on the
buses in case I missed the instytut bus at 08:00.
We arrived after 10:00. Had much discussion about
my plans + arrangements. Also good talk with K.
Petersenig who has anthyemia, & has been in
hospital. He came to Inst. to attend meeting of
collegium (administers of inst. + heads of
departs.). Petersenig remains mentally very sharp,
his English is a good enough, and he is very
interested in "What is a population?" (Sto just
populacji?), ie. what are loging boundaries. I
tried to express view that we need to find out what levels
of discontinuities are important to organisms for
various functions + to what extent these relevant dis-
continuities coincide. Also had extended discussion
with Regina Rosalska & Nabegto regarding
microtine cycles & the possible role of winter
