LIDICKON 1981 Sept. 2 cont. Had around lunch next to the one met by Jan Pinoski who is chairperson of the Dept. of Vertebrate Ecology at the Instytut Ekologii and giving host. (A) We took a very cordialbus to his home apartment for an excellent dinner (complete with beef, 2 kinds of squash, bruchekart, custard dessert and a Romanian wine - pinot gris (sweet & fruity)). His wife Barbara Pinoska also works in the Dept. as a ornithologist. (Agnieszka) Their daughter spoke some Spanish as the family lived in Carcass for a year. I took his book to hotel by myself. Sept 3 Walked to American Embassy to "check-in" with them & to deliver letter from Diane Bielakuskas (U.S. Naval Acad. of Science) to John Zarolis (Science Attache). Zarolis was in a meeting so I left letter with his secretary. Was large crowd of people milling around outside of Embassy. At 12:30 Barbara Dichl (ornithologist who was at Berkeley last Nov.) met me at the hotel with car from the Instytut. Barbara did not go to Inst. so I went alone with the driver - Andrzej. At the Inst., in the lobby of the main building is a very large bulletin board for Solidarnosc & a small one and for the Party & teachers union. Many people wearing Solidarnosc pins & I saw 1 placed in the rear window of a car. Dichl is leaving in a few days for a conference
