Quentin left us ~ 0800 to go back to Honokaa; took about 1/2 the equipment + traps with him so we would have less to carry tomorrow. Picked up all traps. Polahutera: inside facility had 6 mous (2 in 1 trap) - all were alive although 1 was moribund as Paul had picked off traps at 0600 + placed mice under heat lamp in kitchen of station. Left 1 SL, + 10 down traps with Paul. Had 1 dead Mous i traps along fence. Hale Polahua - 940 ft - 2 alive + 1 dead Mous i down trap. 9250 ft - 1 live (down) + 1 dead Mous (SL trap). This is the first time we had any mice die i traps at this location. 3 traps were closed & empty. Nothing in 5 traps near cabin. Processed mice. At 1130 went to Lee's home + called Gerdes again about dry ice arrangements + left message with Island Airlines which is freight company flying dry ice from Honolulu that we would pick it up trial to Sat (Mar 24) at 1200. Also called Carol Ann Tomich. Processed animals all the rest of the day. Paul Brewer showed up for dinner bringing sherry. After dinner we called Carol Ann Tomich; this time successfully Processed mice + packed gear in evening. N/A & 23C is possibly worse if ~ 4g mice caught = 1 trap set P.
