LIDICKER 1979 March 22 cont. 9250ft. - Caught 3 Mus or so on trap, additional ind. div. had turned up - who we thought was an early trap later in day. This individual (W2 # 3650) and conceivably have been mixed up with # 3649 from Polakuloa. Set 2 additional down traps giving 43-3+2 = 41 traps. Proceeded via until 150. Checked trapline at Polakuloa 1500 - 1530. Inside facility caught 3 Mus. Loaned 4 down traps to Paul Brown to set at 15h - giving 13-3+5 = 15. Nothing in fence line has reduced to 13 traps = 28 for Polakuloa. Talked to Bevhen Lee and used Fish & Game phone to try (unsuccessfully) to call Q. Tonid, and to order more dry ice from Gaspro in Hilo. Our SOII supply had virtually vanished by this time, so we moved our frozen codfish into the refrigerator freezer compartment. Drive about 7 mi. NW en road to Waimea and return, going on to Hana Polakua. At 940 ft., added 3 Skunas to line giving 13 traps at this site. At 9250 ft., caught 2 Mus (1 Sk. + 1 down). Set 1 additional Sk giving 41-2+1 = 40. Checked 6 traps now calmer and had 1 Mus (just after dark) leaving 5 traps live. Total traps set: 15+13+13+40+5 = 86. Proceeded via in evening. Quentin Tonid showed up unexpectedly ~ 2/30 to spend the night with us. 2200 - 2245 - Checked traps at Polakuloa. Paul was waiting for us at the gate to help us move the traps.
